MELISSA HAGAN is a graphic designer with an interest in the use of technology in communication.

She is the founder of Magpie Graphic Design, a graphic design firm which relocated, after six and a half years, from Los Angeles to Annapolis, MD. Magpie Graphic Design specializes in graphic design for the scientific and technical communities. Representative projects include website design, presentation graphics, print design of four color programs and brochures, newsletters, and advertising.

Prior to launching Magpie Graphic Design in 1990, Ms. Hagan was Art Director at a high tech publishing and consulting firm in Boston, Massachusetts. She designed marketing materials, newsletter graphics and corporate communications. Before this, Ms. Hagan was employed by an educational software company where she worked on computer graphics, manuals and sales literature design.

Ms. Hagan is a graduate of Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana, where she studied fine art.
